What does the Map show?

Working with the map on the Routes Analysis console

The map on the routes analysis console essentially shows the to and fro movements all over the city. You can visualize the routes as well as origins and destinations separately. You can view this on your own zones or you can use the hexagon boundary on Locale.

❓What are the different sections in the Routes Analysis Console?

The Routes Analysis console can be used to analyze metrics on three different dimensions:

  • Routes- This represents the trips, i.e, all the journeys that are undertaken between any two points.

  • Origins- This represents the starting points of the journey.

  • Destinations- This represents the ending points of the journey.

In the Routes section, the origins and destinations are represented by yellow circles (of varying sizes depending the bucket size), while the routes themselves are shown by lines (of different colors depending on the legend).

You can find out more about bucket size and legend here on the next page:

When you navigate to the origin or destinations sections on the console, you will see them represented as hexagon heatmaps. You'll find both these sections easy to explore if you've already been using Heatmaps. If not, find out more on it here:

⛩ Can I change the sizes of the hexagon?

Yes, in Locale there are five grid sizes provided to the users.

  • City (8.5km) - Largest size

  • District (461m)

  • Locality (174m)

  • Neighborhood (66m)

  • Building (9m) - Smallest size

You can do so by selecting the Grid size option from the toolbar at the top of the screen. In the dropdown menu choose the grids option and choose the desired size.

🛠 How can I add my own boundaries to the map?

  • You can do so by selecting the Grid size option from the toolbar at the top of the screen.

  • Click on the Boundaries option

  • Search for the required file to start visualizing the required boundaries.

🚘 How can I navigate to a different city or district on the map?

  • You can do so by selecting the map icon with the current city or district name from the toolbar at the top of the screen.

  • Search for the desired places, coordinates, or localities to start visualizing the metrics in that area.

If no data has been uploaded for the location you select, the console would just show you a map of the area with no routes or nodes.

🔎 How do I zoom in and out?

  • In the left side of the map right below the legend, you will find the Zoom Panel. The panel has three options: Zoom In (+), Zoom Out (-) and Tilt Map (3D).

  • Alternatively, you can also zoom in on a specific part of map by taking the cursor there and clicking twice.

📍Can the map refresh on its own in real time?

Yes, you can get the map to auto-refresh as the live data comes in.

  • Click on Options in the top left.

  • Under the Console sections, Click on Auto Refresh Console

  • Select the Refresh Interval from a dropdown list.

🗺 Can I change the map style?
